The Front Porch Professional Development Program
Bringing Forth Black Girls’ Power
Self-knowledge promotes self-confidence which helps adult leaders in an organization (and the larger cultural community) become more conscious of their role in contributing to the climate of the organization, encouraging positive relationships within the organization built on trust and respect, and overall behavioral change in others based on positive role modeling. Altogether historical knowledge, cultural knowledge, and self-knowledge add to the collective wisdom of a people, organization, and cultural community (e.g. women, girls' groups, workgroups, etc.). The Front Porch Professional Development Program, created by Dr. Venus E. Evans-Winters, simultaneously encourages shared leadership and collaboration by cultivating the intellectual, cultural, social, physical, and mental wealth of participants.
