At the Black Girls' Mental Health Academy, we help youth leaders, professional mentors, life coaches, and other non-mental health specialists increase their knowledge of the state of Black girls' and young women’s mental health in just 6 weeks, so they can potentially identify signs and symptoms of toxic stress and trauma in herself or others, gain positive coping and self-care skills, and develop the necessary skills to become peer mental health educators for their communities. Your Instructor
Raven Preston is a co-host of the Planet Venus Podcast and works closely with Dr. V on other projects for Planet Venus Institute. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in "Rhetoric & Composition and Technical Communication". Her research examines how Black and Indigenous women who lead community organizations communicate risk during the pandemic and how institutions should value those spaces as legitimate sites of community-based risk communication. On top of being a student, she is a college-level composition instructor who teaches from a Black feminist perspective.
